“Mother’s Meal” – A program promoting awareness of transparent seasonings and anti-counterfeit practices

On September 27–28, the Đồng Nai Provincial Women’s Union, in coordination with Market Surveillance Teams No. 3 and 4 (Department of Industry and Trade) and Vedan Vietnam, organized the program “Mother’s Meal” to provide accurate knowledge about cooking seasonings to women from households across Long Thành, Thống Nhất, and Bàu Hàm communes in Đồng Nai Province.

In today’s increasingly complex market environment, counterfeit and imitation products have become a major concern for Vietnamese consumers. Beyond economic losses, counterfeit goods pose serious risks to public health and erode trust in the quality of domestic products.

To equip consumers with essential knowledge on selecting ingredients and seasonings that ensure both delicious flavors and safety for their families, the program “Mother’s Meal” was launched with the goal of raising awareness and promoting smart consumption habits. The target audience—mothers and homemakers who are directly responsible for choosing and preparing daily family meals—received valuable guidance on food safety and hygiene, as well as on identifying and selecting transparent, safe, and reputable products.

The Importance of Promoting High-Quality Seasoning Products

At the event, Mr. Nguyễn Vũ Khanh, Head of Market Surveillance Team No. 3 of Đồng Nai Province, shared in-depth insights into the new Food Safety Law and provided fundamental knowledge on how to identify counterfeit and imitation goods. According to Mr. Khanh, using high-quality ingredients and seasonings, along with proper cooking methods, not only enhances the distinctive flavor of dishes but also helps avoid harmful additives and preserve beneficial nutrients—ensuring consistent, safe, and delicious meals over time.

The program became even more engaging as participants exchanged practical experiences on selecting fresh, nutritious ingredients and recognizing seasonings with transparent origins and high-quality standards. The Food Safety Law 2025 was highlighted as a key foundation, reminding consumers about proper food handling and encouraging them to commit to choosing quality products from official distribution channels as part of a smarter consumption approach.

Becoming a Smart Consumer for the Health of the Family

Expanding the discussion, Ms. Vũ Thị Hương, Deputy Head of the Women’s Affairs Committee of the Đồng Nai Provincial Women’s Union, offered guidelines to help women select safe seasonings. These included checking labels for origin, production site, and nutritional information; scanning QR codes for traceability; and looking for food safety certifications such as Food Hygiene and Safety, ISO, HACCP, or anti-counterfeit seals. She also advised avoiding vague descriptions such as “packed at,” “completed at,” or “mixed at,” which may obscure product origin.
