Building gratitude houses is part of the annual plan to implement the annual humanitarian and social programs of Vedan Vietnam Company for many years. The program aims to help disadvantaged households and policy families in Dong Nai province. This is an activity with a noble and humane meaning and a valuable encouragement, support both spiritually and materially for the people here.
Recently, responding to the call of the locality to take care of policy families in 2017, Vedan Vietnam Company has had 02 rounds of giving houses of gratitude and red cross houses to poor people in Dong Nai province.
On July 21, 2017, there were 02 houses of gratitude and charity for two poor households in Vinh Thanh and Phu Thanh communes, Nhon Trach district, Dong Nai province, which were coordinated by Vedan Vietnam Company with the Fatherland Front Committee of Nhon Trach district organized the handover. Each house has an area of 40m2, brick wall, cement bowl, corrugated iron roof, and ceramic tile floor, with a total value of more than 110 million VND. In which, Vedan Vietnam sponsors 100 million VND; the rest is contributed by local authorities, families and communities. Mr. Do Van Phuong’s family is a poor household in Vinh Thanh commune, daily doing self-employment only receives a subsidy of VND 700,000/month and whoever hires to do it has a precarious life. This year 49 years old, he only dreamed of building a new house to cover the wind and rain, but his wish is very difficult to fulfill because it is difficult to take care of three meals a day, let alone get money to build a house. Understanding the family’s hardships, Vedan Vietnam Company sponsored 50 million VND for his family to have a new, cleaner and more spacious house.
On July 26, 2017, there were 05 Red Cross houses donated by Vedan Vietnam Company in collaboration with the Red Cross Society of Long Thanh District, Dong Nai Province to disadvantaged households in Long Thanh district. For each house, Vedan Vietnam Company sponsors VND 50,000,000, the rest is contributed by families, local authorities and sponsors. Among the recipients of this house is Mr. Hoang Van Vien, 66 years old, living in hamlet 10, Binh Son commune, whose family is extremely difficult, his wife died early. The couple had only one daughter, but unfortunately was born with a birth defect. Before that, the father and son lived in a broken corrugated iron house. Touched by the concern of the Company and its benefactors, Mr. Vien said: “I sincerely thank the Board of Directors of Vedan Vietnam and the local authorities and sponsors for sponsoring and helping our father. My children have a solid house, peace of mind to live in”.
Without production land, the couple had to work in the fields to earn money to feed their 4 children, so the family economy of Mr. Vong Tran Pau, Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuong, Sa Ca hamlet, Binh An commune was the most difficult in the hamlet. For many years, all 6 members of the family had to live in a shantytown. Excited to be in the new house, Phuong shared: “Previously, my family lived in a makeshift house, empty front and back. Every time it rains and winds, water leaks everywhere, life is very hard. Thanks to the company’s sponsorship, the attention of the authorities, my family has a real home”.
The families that received the charity house this year are those with difficult housing circumstances, living in a temporary, dilapidated, collapsed house, or living in a boarding house but have no money for repairs or build new.
On behalf of the local authorities, Mrs. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Dep, Chairwoman of the Vietnam Red Cross Association in Long Thanh district, thanked Vedan Vietnam for the attention and companionship of Vedan Vietnam so that the local poor have stable living conditions. And hope to continue to receive the company’s companionship and support in the future.
Representative of Vedan Vietnam Company – Mr. Tsai Ping Hsuan said: Support to build houses of charity is a program that is still implemented annually by Vedan Vietnam Company. In 2016 alone, the Company donated 25 houses (50 million VND/house) to poor households in four provinces: Dong Nai, Ba Ria-Vung Tau, Binh Phuoc, Ha Tinh with a total value of more than 1 billion VNDr. The Company’s desire is to help poor families with housing difficulties, have a home to settle down, and stabilize their lives. The company is very happy to accompany the local government to eliminate hunger and reduce poverty, contributing to the construction of a new rural area with the province.
In addition to this program, every year Vedan also conducts many other social programs such as giving Tet gifts to poor households, giving scholarships, giving free medical examination and giving free medicines to the poor. Vedan Vietnam Company also wishes to contribute a small part of its strength to the local people to have better living conditions, bringing happiness to each family.
With the goal of long-term and sustainable development in Vietnam, in the coming time, Vedan Vietnam Company will continue to replicate humanitarian activities to affirm its responsibility to society and the people’s community. That is also one of the core values in Vedan’s long history of development and growth over the past 25 years in the Vietnamese market.
