On November 20, 2020, Vedan Vietnam Company cooperated with the Red Cross Association of Long Thanh district, Dong Nai province to hand over 4 Red Cross houses to poor households in An Phuoc commune, Cam Duong commune and Tan Hiep commune in Long Thanh district district, Dong Nai province. Each house is sponsored by Vedan Company with 50 million VND; the rest is contributed by sponsors and their families.
Mrs. Nguyen Thi Be (residing in Hamlet 5, An Phuoc commune, Long Thanh district), although she is nearly 80 years old, she gets up every morning at 4 o’clock to collect bottles, and after noon she goes home to sort and sell for money to cover everyday life. Her 3 daughters, one got married far away, others don’t have stable jobs and their health is weak so they can’t help much. The old house has been rotting over the years and has no money to repair. With the attention of the Red Cross and the sponsors of An Phuoc commune, now the tall and spacious house has been a support for her old age. Holding the decision to hand over the house, she had tears in her eyes: “I could not think I had such a beautiful house like this even if I had a dream, I thank Vedan Company very much.”
Mr. Nguyen Tu Phuc’s family (group 3, hamlet 1, Cam Duong commune, Long Thanh district) is also a poor local household. Mr. Phuc runs a motorbike taxi every day, whoever hires it, his wife is in poor health, but every day, she also collects bottles to make money for their life. Receiving the decision to hand over the house, he emotionally said “I thank Vedan, thank authorities for taking care of my family, I don’t have money, but from now on I promise to do my best with social works, whatever I can do, no matter how hard I am, I am ready”. Like Mr. Phuc’s family, Tran Nam Trong’s family (group 3, hamlet 1, Cam Duong commune, Long Thanh district) is also a poor household; he and his father are victims of Agent Orange, so their health is weak and there is no steady job. The Red Cross house is his family’s dream for a long time, now it comes true.
Going deep into the rubber forest, going to see Mrs. Do Thi Kieu (residing in Quang Ngai area, Tan Hiep commune, Long Thanh district), we all felt sorry for the beautiful young girl but unkempt; she herself takes care of 3 little children in a ruined house with scrap materials around the house. Since the day when her husband left, there is no day off at home, even though she was sick, she would try hard to work because otherwise anyone would take care of the children. With tears in her eyes when receiving the decision to hand over the house, she chokedly said “Now I can let my children at home to go to work and feel peace in mind when it rains.”
