On May 31, 2019, Vedan Vietnam Company cooperated with fire fighting and rescue police in Long Thanh District to organize a large-scale training and rehearsal for fire prevention and rescue in 2019.
This is an annual rehearsal organized by Vedan Vietnam for many years with the aim of increasing the awareness of fire prevention and fighting for all employees, improving their ability to handle situations, and training in the proficient use fire fighting facilities equipped at the company and rescue skills when a fire occurs. Participating in the rehearsal were nearly 200 employees of departments and members of the company’s on-site fire protection team in collaboration with the fire fighting and rescue police in Long Thanh District.
The rehearsal took place in a methodical manner, closely combined with propaganda activities, knowledge training and practice of fire fighting plans on site. In addition to absorbing theories on fire safety and rescue from the fire police, employees participating in the program seriously rehearsed in a hypothetical fire fighting situation at material warehouse No.2 – By-products processing plant.
The hypothetical situation is a fire that originates at a raw material warehouse. From the moment the fire broke out and the smoke column appeared, Vedan’s employees quickly coordinated closely with the soldiers of the fire fighting and rescue police in Long Thanh District – to handle the situation competently according to instructions such as: Pressing the siren, announcing switchboard 114, cutting off the power system, extinguishing the fire with a fire extinguisher on site, managing the situation, rescuing trapped people and moving property. The fire was completely extinguished after 10 minutes. In order to make the rehearsal more lively, the the fire fighting and rescue police team provided 03 vehicles (02 fire engines and 1 command vehicle) to assist in fighting the fire. 01 ambulance with medical force – doctors were also present, making the staff extremely secure and enthusiastic to participate.
At the rehearsal, Mr. Ko Chung Chih (Deputy General Director of Vedan Vietnam Company) emphasized: “No one wants any unforeseen situation to appear at work, but sometimes accidents can still happen, caused by many objective and subjective reasons, especially fire and explosion accidents that seriously affect people and property. We always consider employees’ lives as the most important asset, so seriously organizing training courses, updating fire prevention knowledge and fire handling skills for employees is always appreciated by the company’s Board of Directors”.
The spirit of “Fire Prevention – Fire Fighting” is also actively spread internally. VedanVietnam employees ” Fire Prevention” by strictly complying with regulations, each employee is equipped with knowledge, ready to respond in any emergency situation, minimizing the consequences when need “Fire fighting”.
Facilities and fire fighting equipment at the company are always checked regularly to ensure the best use condition to meet fire protection standards.
It is known that Vedan Vietnam is one of the pioneers in applying the policy “Care for environment and Sustainable operation” according to ISO 14001 standard, and the occupational health and safety policy: “Safe company – Healthy people” according to OHSAS 18001 standard.
