Building on the success of previous seasons, the 20th “Vedan Cup” football tournament, organized by Vedan Vietnam Joint Stock Company, officially kicked off in early April 2019.
The “Vedan Cup” football tournament is an annual event eagerly anticipated by the company’s staff. It not only serves as an opportunity for employees to improve their physical fitness and unwind after stressful working hours but also fosters interaction and strengthens the team spirit within the company.
With years of organizational experience, the “Vedan Cup” has been increasingly refined to bring excitement to all participants. Featuring a prize pool of nearly 28 million VND, the tournament attracted the participation of eight internal teams from various processing and production workshops, administrative departments, and mechanical units. More than 160 players took part, each well-prepared both mentally and physically to give their all in the competition.
In the opening round, the eight teams competed in a group draw format, playing round-robin matches to identify the standout teams advancing to the semifinals. Garnering much anticipation and enthusiastic support from the audience, the group stage concluded with very close results. The winning teams moved on to the semifinals starting April 20, culminating in the finals on April 26 with a knockout format.
As the elimination rounds approached, the excitement among Vedan’s employees grew stronger. The time clock rooms, canteens, and dining halls became hubs of lively football discussions, with passionate fans preparing uniforms and rehearsing cheers for their teams. In the end, the Refining Workshop team triumphed over the Starch team in a nerve-wracking penalty shootout (3-0) after a 2-2 draw in regular time, claiming the 2019 championship trophy.
Another successful season of the “Vedan Cup” brought immense joy to Vedan’s staff. The thrilling and dynamic matches left a lasting impression, becoming a cherished part of the company’s culture that fosters positivity, joy, and strong bonds within the Vedan Vietnam family.
