Entering the New Year – Dinh Dau Spring 2017, in order to create useful entertainment activities for all staffs of the company to welcome the New Year, from Jan 20th, 2017 to Feb 3rd, 2017, Labor Union of Vedan Vietnam Company held “the 4th Vedan Chess Championship – Dinh Dau Spring 2017”. The event attracted 32 players from plants and department within the company to take part in.
After a week knock-out tournament, the organizers selected 4 best players for semifinal round. The semifinal round took place from Feb 3rd, 2017; players had to play on outdoor lawn following human chess. This was new point in this year Vedan chess championship. Due to the nature of chess different from the traditional chessboard, but it attracted a large number of fans to watch, cheer, bringing a fierce tense match, perfect offense and defense, creating exciting and dramatic moment, unexpected turn around and then convincing win.
Results of “the 4th Vedan Chess Championship – Dinh Dau Spring 2017” were as follows:
1. The first prize: Mr. Nguyen Van Than – Dept K302 (Cup and VND2-million bonus)
2. The second prize: Mr. Phan Tien Hung – Dept J5 (VND1.6-million bonus)
3. The third prize: Mr. Quách Phi Châu – Dept G103 (VND1.2-million bonus)
4. The fourth prize: Mr. Quách Quốc Phi – Dept J1 (VND800,000 bonus)
